As expected, the Ha was very strong with this nebula, but SII and OIII were even weaker than I thought they would be. But I am still happy with how it turned out. I included my old Celestron NexStar 8SE capture near the end of this video for a comparison. Here is more info on the hardware and software:

hello chuck I’m a beginning astronomer and I’m getting into the photography but my scopes consistent of a celestron c6 and an orion st120 with a regular exos1 mount I know I will need a tracking mount to get the good shots but what could you recommend for a beginner in which software to begin with for stacking
Not that bad ! That SCT gives you some very sharp crisp detail . Something tells me you do not want to hear that . But talk about being in focus wow , that is razor sharp. Sorry , but you cannot deny that.
I have had my 8 SE for a few months and I want to start doing some Astrophotography. I just ordered a Skywatcher EQ 6 Pro mount, at some point I will get a small refractor but hope to be able to use my 8 SE until summer, this video really gives me some hope that I can do it with what I have, well done!
I like the one at 6:50! which means if enough of us say we do you will then like one of your others 😉
Another great finished project Chuck! you know my data often looks similar to your data in the beginning, though your end products really take off to another level. Would love to see more PI post processing to get the final touches >maybe you’ll indulge us in the art of producing final colors,etc. and show us your full workflow!

I would like to see the complete nevulose with the resolution that the SCT has. I know that the Sequence Generator Pro makes mosaics, it should be possible to do it that way. true?

Awesome Chuck and a nice comparison. You have experience now to make the picture look better, no matter whatever the telescope is. That is also playing a role I think.

I definitely like the SCT image better. The detail in the gas columns and dust veins was superb. Regardless, well done on both images!
You have very good data for both the SCT and refractor. Both created great images so hard to determine which I like best. Love the color in the refractor image though. I’m still coming up on the ZWO learning curve but soon I’d like to try and experiment on a target both with my SCT and refractor and integrate the two. I’m told PI does this easily. Great video!
I like the “last” one. I like the “solid” look to it.
Can you combine the data from your refractor with the SCT data just for the core of the wider image? That might add a little more detail and sharpness to the pillar and surrounding area. Should be a breeze in Photoshop.
Great video, is difficult to compare this two pictures, SCT offer more close up images, in this case a mucho better detail of the nebula and a slight 3D effect and the refractor has less focal but show the whole nebula. I couldn’t choose one.
I prefer the SCT in this case. It really shines in bringing out that tiny detail, which is important for 6820. They’re both good regardless though.
