Backyard Astronomy # 1

My video introducing the Celestron Powerseeker 114 EQ Reflector Telescope. This is still all new to me so if you have any tips, hints or advice, it’ll be very welcome.

The happy bhuddist says:

guys guys guys this is a great scope i have had mine for 4 years mint condish! i have the 8inch and 6 inch advanced celestrons (im not an amatuer)
so to get up on these things firstly alignment yes the scope is not the greatest however it is simple to fix always always align on say a street light in daylight if you can see the light in the aparture and scope dead centre then its aligned.
best objects by far are plaides, moon, and m42 (orion nebula) below the belt of orion.
if you can get a motor then even better however it is a little noisy.
DO NOT REMOVE THE BLACK PLASTIC always hae one leg facing south also and the scope point true north or as close to true north as possible.
latitude and longitude are the trickiest from the dials but before that the scope has to be in perfect balance hence the counter wieghts.
rather than me harp on i would suggest subscribing to eyes on the sky in youtube he is great for begginers to learn ( how to use an equatorial mount for amatuer telescopes)

Jesse King says:

did yours have a black paper on the back end of the tube and if so did you take it off? i can’t see anything with mines.
