Leave your hand control behind and slew to all the best celestial objects with a tap of your smartphone or tablet. Connect your device to NexStar Evolution’s built-in wireless network, and explore the universe with the Celestron mobile app for iOS and Android.

Use the planetarium interface to view the night sky in real time or display a list of celestial objects currently visible based on your time and location. Our proprietary SkyAlign alignment procedure is built right into the Celestron mobile app, so you’re ready to observe within minutes.

This is real innovation!

doesn’t work at my house. it’s intermittent and moves after you release the screen button and then it’s seconds later after a delay. You basically have no control. I assume do to the high use of WIFI in my area. it’s older technology frequencies not 5Ghz for example that wouldn’t receive this type of interference. I would only recommend this if you use the scope in a area without heavy WIFI use.

DEM4RCO says:

This is a nice, good working and useful app when it is connected to your evolution.
The downside is that it only functioning fully when connected to a evolution scope.
So not all is visible in normal use like Messiers.
This is a very big downside because your not always connected to your scope, for example when your indoor planning your things to see for the night. Celestron make no mistake this is a very big downside. In stead of blocking normal use, you should imagine most off the worlds amateur astronomers using your app because it’s that good, think of the reach and power you have then..

And it is also possible to use a wedge with this mount ?

Charles Albert says:

Hi celestron folks.I have one question about the wifi.Does it work with android deviçes or only works with apple deviçes ??

Gunnar Jensen says:

Is the mount sturdy enough to carry a camera also ?

Onemorevictim says:

Does the app work if your dont have cell service?

jaime ramirez says:

Esta serie es excelente, tengo uno de 6″ pulg y es facilmente controlado desde mi tablet, lo mejor es el buen seguimiento para astrofotografia, he podido tomar fotos de espacio profundo con 180 seg sin movimiento barrido de estrellas.

Daniel Danrich says:

Why can’t customers buy just the mount?

Randy Rodriguez says:

Very nice!

CAN IT BE USED LIKE NORMAN SE TELESCOPES, WITHOUT THE WI-FI

I own a telescope rental business in Joshua Tree, CA near Joshua Tree National Park.  The Nexstar Evolution is the only telescope we rent.  The educational and technological aspects of this scope allow even the most novice to enjoy a full night of deep space exploration.  You can use the handset or the app to the align and control the telescope.  My favorite part of the app is that it will give an audio tour of an object you may not be familiar with, such as when our clients stumble upon M110 or M32 and they have no idea what that object is.  It also has a red light setting on the app so that your eyes can stay adjusted throughout the night.  App works on both apple and android devices.
Aligning is incredibly easy.  I usually have this scope set up and aligned within 8 minutes.  My beginner clients are usually aligned within 15 minutes.  When I test my alignment, my first object is almost always dead center in the eye piece.
I’ve found the internal battery lasts about 6 – 7 hrs in cold weather, and about 9 in warmer weather.
The 8 inch is my favorite.  However I love that the 9.25 can use 2inch eyepieces as well as 1.25.

What about all the people that just want to buy the mount/tripod only? You think they’re stupid?
